Eco & friendly – the roof top residents’ lounge
The residents’ lounge in the roof top garden is well underway. Once again The PG Group turned to Bristol based, ModCell for a solution that is both eco-friendly and innovative.
The company has developed a multi-award winning Straw Technology system using prefabricated straw bales for the wall and roofing. The innovative, system is quickly and efficiently installed, delivering truly low carbon buildings. This carbon positive construction system actually banks carbon into the building fabric; the residents lounge sequesters over 33,900kg of atmospheric CO2 into the structure of the building, making it a carbon negative building achieving u-values of 0.13 W/m²K, almost three times better than current UK building regulations require.
Less energy & better for residents’ health
As a result the lounge requires far less energy to heat, which is good for the environment, whilst also lowering the ongoing operating costs of the building, so good for the residents’ service charge. The system also delivers a fully breathable construction, improving health and well-being of occupants.
Gorgeous and green
All in all by refurbishing an existing building, using the MHVR air exchange process, including a roof top garden, solar panels and a living green wall, Number One Bristol really is living up to its green credentials.
